ABOUT ME

Keziah Valdes Farrar

WHO I AM:

Growing up in Mansfield, I received an outstanding education from Mansfield ISD, and have been excited to see how much the district has grown and changed over the years. My husband Shane and I made the easy decision to raise our family in our home town so that our three children could grow up in the same wonderful environment we did.

Shane and I have been married for 21 years, and we have seen many changes in our school system through the unique lens of both attending these schools and navigating them as parents. It has given me so much to feel proud about, but also a few things to consider as we move toward the future of Mansfield ISD.

These considerations are the reason I made the decision to initially run for school board, and ultimately seek re-election.

I know where we have been and I can see where we are headed. I want to make sure your voices as parents, teachers, students and community members continue to be heard so that we can continue to navigate our collective journey together.

WHERE I AM:

As an established member of our community, I pride myself on being involved and accessible.

After graduating from Dallas Baptist University with a degree in Business Marketing, I began my thriving career as a real estate agent, and it has been my great pleasure to work daily alongside the citizens of our town, helping them find the perfect home or place to run their own businesses, and always ensuring they receive top dollar for their investment. Through working with a wide range of families and business owners,  I learned even more about each school in our district and what makes them special and unique.

My husband Shane is also a local business owner, and together we have been working diligently as commercial real estate developers. We are determined to keep Mansfield as a top destination city, where people want to come to live, work, learn, teach and play.

As long as Mansfield ISD stays the strong, destination district that people have come to know and expect, our community will thrive.

WHERE MY HEART IS:

Ultimately, I have a heart for all children.

I first began demonstrating this with my involvement in our school system, where I did everything from serving on PTA boards, to advisory boards within the city, to even spending a year as a crossing guard, protecting our kiddos in all weather and learning how to step out on faith in the most literal sense!

In 2013 my husband and I felt the calling to become foster parents. A year later we added our beautiful daughter to our family and through that experience, my heart grew even more for the thousands of children still left to try and navigate the system. One of my greatest joys has been my volunteer work at CASA of Tarrant County. From 2015 until I became an MISD trustee in 2021, I was honored to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children, and to give a voice to the vulnerable and underserved children in foster care in our community. I was, and still am committed to fight for them to get the care and services they desperately need, collaborating with a team of case workers, attorneys, judges, teachers, health care providers to make the best decisions possible for each child’s unique circumstance.

This has long been a passion of mine, and through it I have learned so much about advocating for ALL children and being unafraid to speak out and be voice to the voiceless, something I look forward to continuing on our school board.

LETS TALK:

I hope by now, you have an idea of the level of heart, diligence, transparency and tenacity I bring to the Mansfield ISD school board. I hope you will take a look at my platform points to see what is at the core of my desire to continue to be your elected school board trustee.

But to be your voice, I have to know what you have to say about your joys and concerns regarding our school system.

I hope you will follow my social media accounts and come out to one of my events so I can show you why I am still the best choice for Place 4.

I look forward to meeting you!
