As a parent, I understand the importance of knowing that our children are safe every time they step foot on campus. I want that same peace of mind for you. A child who doesn’t feel safe at school cannot focus on learning, which is why I have fully supported every measure MISD has implemented to enhance safety for our students, staff, and visitors.

In 2023, we approved the purchase of the EVOLV system for each high school campus, followed by support and passage of the 2024 bond to expand this weapon detection system to all middle school campuses and sporting events. This technology has proven to be a vital tool in keeping our schools secure.

Beyond technology, we have taken a comprehensive approach to school safety, including:

  • Enhancing Security Personnel & Procedures

    • Upgraded dispatch equipment for our police department

    • Added campus safety specialists in middle and high schools to monitor hallways, check doors, and manage the EVOLV system

    • Administrators now conduct regular safety walks to ensure all doors are properly closed and locked

  • Implementing Safety Practices

    • Created an educational vaping course to inform students of its dangers

    • Introduced bag screenings for all overnight trips

    • Added assistant principal interns to many campuses to provide additional leadership and oversight

  • Encouraging a Culture of Awareness & Reporting

    • Launched This Is Our House, a platform where students, staff, and community members can anonymously report safety concerns or suspicious behavior (Learn more)

School safety is not just a priority—it is a responsibility. I will continue to support initiatives that protect our children and provide a secure learning environment for every student.

The ultimate goal of our schools is to provide students with an education that empowers them to achieve their dreams after graduation. I remain committed to ensuring that Mansfield ISD is a place where every student reaches their full potential, teachers are supported and valued, and where families choose to send their children because they know it offers the best opportunities for their future.

Academic excellence must remain at the heart of everything we do. That’s why I will continue to advocate for a learning environment that prioritizes student success. Whether through a traditional educational experience or one of our many choice programs, finding the right learning environment for each student is key to unlocking their full potential. Programs such as Fine Arts and STEM Academies, Two-Way Dual Language, Leadership and STEAM Academies, Summit P-TECH Academy, and Early College High School provide students with specialized pathways to success.

Mansfield ISD continues to outperform the state and region academically, and we are making remarkable progress in career and technical education. Our CTE course offerings have expanded significantly, and Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs) have increased by an outstanding 261% from the 2020-21 school year to 2023-24. These efforts ensure that students graduate not just with a diploma, but with real-world skills and certifications that set them up for success in college, careers, and beyond.

Beyond academics, our schools thrive because of the strong partnerships between educators, families, and the community. We recognize that student success is a shared responsibility, and I remain dedicated to strengthening these collaborations. From mentorship programs to community-driven initiatives that enhance educational opportunities, Mansfield ISD is a district where every stakeholder plays a role in shaping a brighter future for our students.

While we have accomplished so much, there is always more to do. Looking ahead, I am committed to expanding access to innovative programs, enhancing student support services, and continuing to build a culture of excellence that prepares every student for lifelong success. Together, we will ensure that Mansfield ISD remains a place where every child can dream big and achieve even bigger.

Priorities-22.png

As a product of public education and part of a family deeply rooted in the field, I am proud to stand as an advocate for public schools. My mother, a retired Mansfield ISD teacher, and my father, a retired administrator, dedicated their careers to shaping the future of our students, and I carry that legacy forward.

Despite the challenges posed by stagnant funding since 2019, Mansfield ISD continues to provide exceptional opportunities for its students. However, it is time for the state of Texas to prioritize public education funding. At a minimum, the funding per student must be adjusted to reflect the impact of inflation over the past six years. Our students deserve more than the bare minimum—they deserve an investment in their future.

I strongly oppose Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs) and School Choice programs that divert public funds to private institutions. Parents already have a choice in their children's education, and if they decide to pursue private schooling, I fully support that. However, I do not support using taxpayer dollars to fund those choices. Public education is the backbone of our state, and its success is essential to the success of our communities.

This legislative session, we must make funding our schools a top priority. I look forward to working with our state legislators to ensure our students, staff, and community receive the resources they need to thrive.

Multi choice
